Millennium hires Citadel PMs and G-Research data architects

According to Business Insider, Millennium's 2024 returns aren't the best for multistrategy hedge funds this year. Up 10% through to October it's doing better than the likes of ExodusPoint, but is below Schonfeld's 15.5% highs. Nonetheless, it's still adding staff, including veteran technologists and portfolio managers (PMs) in London.

Elad Pashtan has joined Millennium this month as a senior portfolio manager in fixed income. He spent the past seven years at Citadel, as an economist for the first two, then as a PM for the last five. Before that, he spent three years at Goldman Sachs, split between being an equity strat and an economist.

Millennium also added Jocelyn Hickson and Liam Falconer as London software engineers. Hickson previously spent a decade at London hedge fund Winton, and was a lead architect for post-trade analytics at G-Research. Most recently, he was modernizing the tech stack at asset management firm Ruffer. Falconer recently spent six years at "scientific" hedge fund BlueCove.

Millennium has also been letting go of people in London. Two senior PMs whose trading strategies relied on corporate events like mergers have left, after regulatory rulings prevented those mergers from taking place. Millennium is thought to be particularly trigger-happy with the eject button when PMs don't deliver to expectations.
