It's ok: London's laid off equity researchers are finding new jobs

There are a lot of equity research professionals out of work in London right now. They include researchers from Stifel, researchers from HSBC, researchers from UBS, and maybe now researchers from Barclays too. But there are also banks recruiting them, albeit selectively.

At least three researchers who were let go in the past two months have new jobs.

Sources say that Stephan Klepp, HSBC's top-ranked UK industrials analyst, is embarking on a new career at BNP Exane from September. BNP Exane declined to comment.

Tum Musson, a director in real estate equity research at HSBC, who was only there for 10 months after joining from Goldman Sachs, is understood to be joining Berenberg. Berenberg declined to comment.

And Tim Ramskill, a veteran researcher from Credit Suisse who was the global head of product management at UBS before being let go in May, is understood to be joining Bank of America. It, too, declined to comment.

There are still plenty of other equity researchers out there. Hedge funds are hiring too. Jain Global this week poached the head of banking research from SocGen.
