Hedge fund Balyasny picked up an ex-Citadel analyst and Walleye PM
Hedge fund Walleye has been adding some people and getting rid of others, but those who leave seem to be welcome at rival funds. Luka Spoljaric, who spent the last two years at the fund, has resurfaced at Balyasny after a few months out of the market.

Spoljaric is joining Balyasny's equities long/short team, a strategy led by founder Dimitry Balyasny that had 68 portfolio managers as of May 2025. His two years at Walleye were also spent as a portfolio manager but, prior to that, he spent another two years as a senior analyst at hedge fund Citadel.
Spoljaric is also a former hedge fund founder. He co-founded Portsea Asset Management in 2015 and worked there for four and a half years before being tapped by Citadel. According to Companies House, Portsea made a profit of £2.4m in the year before he left.
Walleye's various arrivals in 2025 include Greg Bugaj, a former Eisler Capital PM, and has made more hires from both outside and inside the hedge fund space, hiring from market maker Citadel Securities and hedge fund Millennium. Its various departures, though, were not all voluntary, as the fund made two job cuts in March and August, respectively.
