Amaury Sabran spent four years working in quant research at Citadel Securities before leaving last December for Waveforms.AI, where he was part of the founding team. Waveforms.AI was acquired by Meta for an undisclosed sum in August.

Ergo Sabran now works for Meta instead.

Waveforms.AI is being incorporated into the Meta superintelligence lab, which has allegedly been offering $100m packages to top AI researchers in a quest to develop intelligence greater than that of human beings. $100m is a huge amount of money. Techcrunch says it's structured as a four-year package with restricted stock units.

Sabran declined to comment for this article. At Citadel Securities, he worked in the London office on "monetization research" for European equities. At Waveforms.AI, he worked on personalized real time AI assistants and multimodal AI models which can work across diverse data sources.

Other quants have gone into AI too. As we noted last year, AI firms have become a popular option for quants on gardening leave: because they're not direct competitors of funds or market makers, it's possible to work for an AI firm without triggering a non-compete.

Citadel Securities is also a lucrative place to work. Figures released for the first half indicate that it's on track to pay its employees an average of $2m this year.
