Bank of America MD in Paris who left for crypto returns with HSBC… in London

Mohamed Yangui has joined HSBC as its global head of equities structuring, based in London. He spent most of his career in Paris, most recently at Trakx, a crypto index trading platform, which he joined in April 2022.
Yangui spent eight years before that at Bank of America, but didn't 'quit' banking for crypto, per se. He, along with the equity derivatives structuring team he led, was displaced in a post-brexit layoff round in October 2018, as BofA moved its global markets team from London to Paris.
Yangui has extensive experience in banking. He was an MD at Bank of America and an MD at Lehman Brothers for seven. Prior to that, he was also head of new product development at Barclays.
This isn't Yangui's first time in London. He began his career there as equities head of new product development for Credit Lyonnais, after graduating from Grande École ENSAE Paris.
