Another array of traders appears to have left Nomura

It was not so long ago that we were reporting regularly about traders leaving Nomura, and particularly leaving Nomura's macro business. At the time, there were complaints both of bonus disappointment and about the heavy hiring from ANZ. Since, then things appeared to have calmed down a bit. Until now.

In the past week, we understand that another five traders and one salesperson have left Nomura. Alongside Pawan Bhargava, a veteran prop trader who left last week, we understand that the departures include: Ian Hildebrand, a G10 FX trader in the US; Sagar Sambrani, an FX options trader in the UK; Dimitri Desquiens, a rates trader in Singapore; Alastair Loe, an EM trader in Singapore; Timothy Doern, the head of futures and options sales trading in the US; and Fiona Tay a VP in equity sales.

Nomura declined to comment. Many of those contacted didn't respond to a request to comment and many are still listed as employed on local regulatory sites.

The apparent reasons for the exits are not clear. Some of those departing are understood to be taking time to decompress. Sambrani and others are understood to be enroute to new jobs.

Nomura’s second quarter results, released last week, showed equities revenues rising 19% year-on-year and fixed income revenues falling 2%. CFO Hiroyuki Moriuchi said rates revenue declined “amid rising rates globally” and that credit client activity “was subdued as spreads widened.” Wholesale had got off to “a somewhat slower start” in October, he added.
