Our client is a leading international banking group with a strong presence across Asia-Pacific. Due to continued business growth, they are seeking an experienced treasury operations professional to join their Hong Kong team as Vice President, Treasury Operations & Business Control.
This is a leadership role responsible for overseeing treasury operations, strengthening control frameworks, managing settlement risk, and driving operational excellence across treasury products and market transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and oversee daily treasury and capital markets operations to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely processing of transactions.
- Lead a team of treasury operations professionals and provide coaching, guidance, and performance management.
- Review and approve treasury transactions, settlements, payments, accounting postings, and operational documentation.
- Monitor settlement risks and investigate operational exceptions, breaks, and irregular transactions.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of management reports, regulatory returns, and Head Office reporting requirements.
- Maintain robust operational controls and ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and market best practices.
- Drive process improvement initiatives, operational streamlining, and automation projects to enhance efficiency and risk management.
- Develop and maintain operational procedures, controls documentation, and training materials.
- Partner closely with Treasury Front Office, Finance, Risk, Compliance, and various internal stakeholders on business initiatives and regulatory changes.
- Lead strategic projects and ad hoc assignments as delegated by senior management.
Requirements
- Degree holder in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of treasury operations experience gained within banking or financial institutions.
- At least 5 years of team leadership and people management experience.
- Strong product knowledge covering treasury and capital markets activities, including:
- Interest Rate Swaps (IRS)
- Cross Currency Swaps (CCS)
- Fixed Income and Securities Settlement
- Debt Capital Markets (DCM) Operations
- Money Market and Treasury Products
- Solid understanding of market infrastructure and settlement platforms, including:
- SWIFT
- CHATS
- CMU
- Securities clearing and settlement systems
- Good knowledge of operational risk management, regulatory reporting obligations, and OTC derivatives transaction reporting requirements.
- Proven track record in process re-engineering, control enhancement, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in English and Chinese (spoken and written).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
