The Team
The defence of disease claims is one of Clyde & Co's specialist areas. Our dedicated Disease practice handles thousands of claims annually and works with major insurers, multinational organisations, public sector bodies and self-insured clients. We combine technical excellence with deep sector knowledge to deliver exceptional outcomes across a broad range of complex and high-profile matters.
Our Newcastle team has particular expertise in asbestos-related claims and occupational disease litigation, working closely with colleagues across the UK on some of the most challenging and significant claims in the market.
The Role
You will manage a varied caseload of complex disease claims, working closely with experienced Partners and senior lawyers within a highly regarded national practice.

The Role
You will manage a varied caseload of complex disease claims, working closely with experienced Partners and senior lawyers within a highly regarded national practice.
The work will include:
- Employers' Liability and Public Liability disease claims
- Asbestos-related disease claims, including mesothelioma
- Occupational cancers and respiratory disease claims
- Noise-induced hearing loss claims
- Stress and harassment claims
- Complex and emerging risk litigation
- Strategic and group litigation matters where appropriate Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing a caseload of litigated disease claims
- Assessing liability, causation and quantum
- Drafting pleadings, witness statements and legal advice
- Instructing counsel and expert witnesses
- Negotiating settlements and handling mediations where appropriate
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Delivering excellent client service in line with agreed service standards
About You
We are interested in hearing from candidates who:
- Are qualified solicitors with experience in defendant or claimant personal injury litigation
- Have experience of disease litigation, employers' liability or public liability claims, although candidates with broader casualty litigation experience will also be considered
- Demonstrate strong analytical and technical skills
- Have excellent communication and client management abilities
- Can effectively prioritise work in a fast-paced environment
- Are keen to develop their expertise within a market-leading disease practice
