About the Role:

As Head of Financial Reporting, you will lead and manage the LSM Financial Reporting team, providing strategic oversight across a portfolio of legal entities including the Syndicate, Managing Agent, Corporate Members, Service Companies and Coverholders. You will be responsible for ensuring the timely, complete and accurate preparation and submission of financial statements and relevant regulatory returns to internal and external stakeholders, including the US parent, Lloyd's, the PRA, FCA, CAA and other regulators. The role encompasses full ownership of the local technical reporting and regulatory reporting agenda, including complex UK GAAP, IFRS and specific accounting matters, and requires the preparation of senior-level technical memoranda and Board papers that clearly articulate financial performance, key judgements and risk. Leading a established team of finance professionals, you will embed strong leadership, develop technical capability across the function, and maintain a robust financial control and governance framework. Acting as a trusted finance advisor to senior leadership, you will work closely with the European Financial Controller and Head of External Reporting, actuarial, tax, risk and FP&A teams to influence strategic and operational decisions. You will also lead senior stakeholder relationships and play a key role in supporting change programmes such as systems transformation and process optimisation. The successful candidate will have the credibility and influencing skills to work across the peer group, ensuring that the team delivers accurate statutory and regulatory reports on time.

About the Department & Team:

LSM operates through two primary legal entities which act as (re)/insurers: Syndicate 4472 and Liberty Mutual

Insurance Europe Limited (LMIE), which are regulated by Lloyd's, the Luxembourg CAA and certain overseas

regulators in respect of their branch operations. LSM also operates certain other regulated entities, both in the UK and overseas, with a range of activites, incuding a Lloyd's managing agent, UK and EU service companies, and UK and EU interemediaries. In addition the Financial Reporting team carries out accounting and reporting duties in respect of Liberty Mutual Group companies with UK reporting requirements. The Financial Reporting team is responsible for completing a broad range of external reporting requirement for Solvency II, Lloyd's reporting, CAA and other local regulatory regimes. In addition, the Financial Reporting team is responsible for the production of statutory financial statements under local reporting rules, and for monitoring levels of capital resources and requirements under UK and other solvency regimes. All of the output from this function must be delivered to strict deadlines, requiring a high level of commitment from the staff involved, in particular at quarter ends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Financial Reporting, ensuring that the team successfully complete all designated US reporting, Lloyd's and other Regulatory Returns, and Financial Statements, for the Liberty managing agent, service companies, intermediaries and other non-insurer entities, to a high standard of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage the end to end to end LSM Legal Entity reporting processes leveraging from the existing finance reporting, production and operations processes in support of the relevant entities;
  • Provide high quality inputs including branch results of legal entities to the Regulatory Reporting team and the LSM Tax team in support of their responsibilities and deliverables;
  • Take overall responsibility for producing all outputs to an agreed quality standard and review and sign off submissions;
  • Preparation and presentation of quarterly LSM Legal Entity management reports and other materials for the Financial Reporting and Controls Working Group, the Board, and where appropriate the LSM Audit Committee;
  • Support the production of legal entity statutory and regulatory business plans, complementing the overall business planning timeline and supporting ORSA data requirement
  • Manage the successful implementation of a robust review process for legal entity results and external returns, including intercompany balances and arrangements;
  • Monitor the capital position of the regulated LSM entities on a regular basis
  • Manage and control the audit process and relationship in respect of all regulatory returns and statutory financial statements.
  • Team leader to manage the team. Will be responsible for providing effective guidance such as supervising, managing and motivating team members.
  • Successful implementation of a robust review process within the Financial Reporting team for improving internal and peer review process over internal and external returns and ensuring that all returns are reviewed and approved in line with the agreed governance process.
  • Play a key role in the implementation of improvements to Financial Reporting within LSM's Finance Change and FTOM programme.
  • Will be responsible for technical and regulatory accounting changes. This will involve researching the impact on LSM entities with recommendation for changes as appropriate and to be able to implement technical requirements consistently, in a timely fashion and in accordance with defined interpretations and manage the embedding of the change within the team.
  • Completing ad hoc management reporting activities such as producing and analysing reports for the business
  • To actively train and assist in the development of the team's technical knowledge of Group requirements, together with the requirements of the appropriate regulatory regimes relevant to the relevant entities.

Skills and Experience:

We are looking for an ambitious individual with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. To

perform the role, the individual would display the following attributes:

  • Professional qualification (ACCA, ACA) with 5-10 years of post-qualification experience
  • Experience of coordinating large processes with multiple stakeholders
  • Proven experience of managing reporting functions in the Financial Services industry to a wide range of
  • stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, managing conflicting tasks, executive demands and deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including preparation of executive presentations, accounting papers and external reporting
  • Comprehensive financial accounting and reporting knowledge
  • Clear understanding of financial controls and importance of data integrity along with the ability to shape the control procedures for key reporting processes
  • In depth knowledge of the Lloyds market along with the relationships and transactions between entities such as the Syndicate, Managing agent, service companies and the corporate member
  • Ability to interpret complex accounting and reporting guidance
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint and general ledger systems
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Problem-solving and enquiring mind-set.
  • Demonstrable persistence and resilience in pursuit of agreed objectives
  • Ability to work in a tight deadline environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of the wider finance team.
