A leading European alternative investment manager is seeking an experienced Fund Controller to join its growing finance team on an initial 9-12 month fixed-term contract.
The firm manages several billion euros of assets across private markets strategies, with a strong focus on direct lending, private credit and alternative debt investments. Operating within an institutional environment, the business works closely with investors, borrowers, service providers and internal investment professionals across multiple jurisdictions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional with private equity or credit fund experience to join a high-performing team during a period of continued growth and activity.
The Role
The Fund Controller will take ownership of a portfolio of private credit funds and be responsible for overseeing all aspects of fund accounting, reporting and control. The successful candidate will work closely with investment teams, operations, treasury, external administrators and auditors to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of fund reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day fund accounting and financial reporting processes for a range of private credit and direct lending funds.
- Review and challenge NAV calculations prepared by third-party fund administrators.
- Review quarterly and annual financial statements prepared under IFRS and other relevant accounting standards.
- Monitor fund performance, portfolio valuations and investor allocations.
- Review capital call, distribution and investor reporting processes.
- Liaise with portfolio management teams regarding investment activity, restructurings and realised transactions.
- Review loan and debt investment accounting, including interest accruals, effective yield calculations and credit-related adjustments.
- Support fund launches, fund restructurings and other strategic initiatives.
- Coordinate year-end audits and act as a key point of contact for external auditors.
- Review management fee and carried interest calculations where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with fund documentation and reporting requirements.
- Assist with regulatory reporting and internal governance processes.
- Drive process improvements and enhance financial controls across the fund finance function.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
Candidate Requirements
- ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualified accountant.
- Significant experience within fund finance, fund accounting or fund control.
- Direct experience working with private credit or private equity, direct lending, debt funds or alternative credit strategies.
- Strong understanding of fund structures, fund accounting principles and investment reporting.
- Experience of Lux structures and reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and highly professional environment.
