To support the Head of Technical Services by delivering technical research, guidance and analysis to inform decision-making and maintain a high-quality, defensible warranty offering.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Standards & Guidance
- Draft, update and maintain technical manuals, standards and guidance documents
- Ensure all technical content reflects current Building Regulations, internal policy positions and claims experience
- Maintain accuracy, clarity and consistency across all published technical documentation
Technical Governance & Document Control

- Ensure appropriate governance, control and oversight of all technical documents produced within the function
- Maintain robust version control, approval processes and audit trails for all technical manuals, guidance and communications
- Ensure all technical documentation is accurate, consistent and aligned with current legislation, internal policy and business risk appetite
- Support structured document control processes, including defined ownership, review cycles and approval authorities
- Identify and escalate risks arising from outdated, conflicting or incorrectly applied technical guidance
- Ensure all technical documentation is maintained in a manner that is defensible, traceable and suitable for internal and external audit
Technical Research & Risk Support
- Undertake research into new construction methods, materials and emerging risks (including MMC and regulatory change)
- Monitor updates to legislation, standards and product certification
- Provide structured technical input and recommendations to the Head of Technical Services
- Support technical investigations through evidence gathering and analysis
Technical Support to the Business
- Provide technical guidance and support to surveyors, underwriting and claims teams
- Support interpretation and consistent application of technical standards across the business
- Assist in the assessment of non-standard construction proposals and technical queries
Stakeholder Engagement & Technical Communication
- Lead and chair technical forums and working groups with developers and external stakeholders where required
- Present technical standards, guidance and risk positions to internal teams and external organisations
- Support clear and consistent communication of technical requirements across all audiences
- Represent the technical standards function in meetings, workshops and industry discussions as appropriate
Team Management & Delivery
- Manage and develop a high-performing technical standards team, ensuring clear objectives and delivery of outputs
- Support a collaborative and effective team environment
- Contribute to the achievement of team and departmental objectives
Skills & Experience
Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of:
- Building Regulations
- Warranty standards
- Construction methods and typical defects
- Good understanding of:
- Construction products and certification processes
- Claims causation and risk drivers within the built environment
- Ability to:
- Interpret technical information and translate it into clear, practical guidance
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience of:
- Working within a technical, surveying or warranty environment
- Developing or contributing to technical standards or guidance documentation
- Confident presenter, with the ability to:
- Deliver technical presentations to internal and external audiences
- Facilitate discussions and chair technical forums effectively
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
- MRICS, MCABE or similar
