The Paralegal: Global Mobility and Migration, prepares US employment-based, non-immigrant and immigrant visa filings to US Department of Labor, US Citizenship and Immigration Services, US Department of State and US Customs and Border Protection.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:
  • Compile and analyze immigration eligibility documents to assess potential immigration benefits, including for PERM applications and H-1B and L-1 visa processing
  • Assist with the full PERM labor certification lifecycle, including drafting PERM advertisement text, prevailing wage requests, recruitment instructions, PERM applications (ETA 9089) and PERM compliance files, meticulously tracking timelines of each step
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, based on attorney advice, on immigration benefits, government procedures and case processing time lines
  • Assist multiple attorneys with meticulously tracking and reporting on visa expiration dates and filing deadlines
  • Act as back-up to other paralegals for specific case projects during absences
  • Travel as needed
  • Other duties as requested by attorneys and manager
  • Other job duties as assigned by the firm

Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes

Education/Training/Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with solid academic credentials and 1-3 of relevant experience, required

Professional Experience:
  • Experience in high-volume US visa processing, including the PERM case lifecycle

Specific Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required

Performance Traits:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside parties such as filing vendors and personnel at jurisdictions of filing
  • Must possess a desire to work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment, an attention to detail, strong organizational skills and enjoy providing top quality customer service skills to assist our growing GMM team in managing the mobility needs of our diverse, Fortune 500 client base
  • Must possess a curiosity to learn new areas of the law and think creatively, as we seek to provide all team members with a diverse portfolio of immigration and mobility matters
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm
  • Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative
  • Ability to anticipate needs of lawyers and paralegals
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion
  • Exercise solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements:
  • May require occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.

Posted Pay Range

The typical pay scale for this position is between USD $51,000.00/Yr. and USD $67,500.00/Yr., although the actual wage or salary could be lower or higher if the candidate's education, experience, skills and internal pay alignment are different from those specified.
