Department Overview

Global Data Protection Compliance, part of the Fidelity Global Compliance function (a 2nd Line of Defence function) provides consultancy and advisory services to our businesses, globally, working in partnership with the other oversight functions, such as the AML, Legal and Risk teams. Members of the core Global Data Protection Compliance function are located in the UK and India. Their role is to provide an excellent compliance service, promoting a compliant Data protection/privacy culture and enhancing the effectiveness, long-term profitability and reputation of the company through pro-active management of regulatory and reputational risk, undertaken in partnership with the business, and in the best interests of our investors and customers.

Your key accountabilities

• Responsible for the oversight of the adherence by the organisation to the Global Data Protection programme for the UK.
• Provide advice and guidance to the business on all aspects of UK data protection legislation, and support the UK Fidelity business in the analysis and implementation and of any new data protection legislation.
• Provide advice and guidance to the business areas by pro-active support and involvement in business projects

  and respond to day to day queries on data protection issues.

• Support and provide oversight of the Data Subject Rights process (initially have responsibility for fulfilment and then as this activity moves to 1LOD support the transition).
• Support and guide on any Data Protection monitoring carried out by Compliance, Audit, Quality Control or Information Security teams.
• Maintain and further develop relevant departmental procedures.
• Assist the business with developing procedures, controls and protocols relating to the privacy and data protection risks of Fidelity in UK.
• To support the Regional DP Manager UK & CE in investigating and responding to the supervisory authority on all data protection issues.
• Contribute to the quarterly & annual MI, with specific responsibility for Breaches data and horizon scanning data.
• Promoting awareness and a culture of personal responsibility through the development and implementation of training and communications.
• Responsible for Personal Data Breach process for Global Data Protection Compliance; including any further development of the system used taking the lead and partnering with other DPMs/DPOs globally.
• Responsible for the process of horizon scanning for relevant changes to legislation affecting compliance with Data Privacy legislation globally.
• Support the Global DP Compliance function as required.

  Desirable Experience

• Strong working knowledge of Data Privacy laws and regulations in the UK
• Relevant industry experience in UK Financial Services and/or professional qualification
• Strong communication skills
• Well organised
• Proven experience of developing and evolving data privacy strategies or similar
• Experience of handling data protection issues
• Compliance or governance background preferable

  Desirable Qualifications

• Knowledge of UK Retail Financial Services
• Experience of Direct Marketing operations
