The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Corporate Tax Associate to join its highly regarded corporate tax team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified tax lawyer with 2-5 years' post-qualification experience to work on a broad range of complex and commercially focused matters for an impressive portfolio of UK and international clients.

The team provides both transactional support and standalone corporate tax advice, working closely with clients and their existing advisers to deliver pragmatic, commercially focused solutions.

You will have the opportunity to gain exposure across the full spectrum of corporate tax, including M&A, business reorganisations, venture capital, share incentives, international tax, VAT, tax clearances, stamp duty and tax disputes.

The Team & Work

The team has extensive experience advising clients throughout the lifecycle of a transaction, including the purchase, sale and reorganisation of businesses. You will work on matters often involving tight deadlines and will have the opportunity to develop your experience in drafting and negotiating tax deeds, warranties and other transaction documentation.

The team also has a strong reputation in the venture capital and share incentives space, advising businesses on their eligibility for tax-efficient investment and supporting the establishment of share incentive arrangements for employees, directors and advisers.

A key feature of the team is its ability to provide tailored advice by drawing on expertise from across the wider firm. You will work closely with clients and colleagues across different disciplines, developing strong client relationships and gaining valuable exposure to a wide range of businesses and sectors.

Key Responsibilities

As a Corporate Tax Associate, you will:

• Undertake fee-earning work and contribute to the financial performance and development of the team.
• Provide high-quality, commercially focused tax advice while maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards.
• Communicate directly with clients, including taking instructions and providing updates by email, telephone and in meetings.
• Assist with corporate transactions, including business acquisitions, disposals and reorganisations.
• Undertake document reviews and accurately record and communicate findings.
• Assist with the day-to-day management and progression of client matters.
• Draft and assist with documentation relating to tax matters, including tax deeds, warranties and share incentive arrangements.
• Assist with applications to HMRC for SEIS/EIS relief and the preparation of investor certificates.
• Support the team with business development activities, including maintaining marketing materials and client lists.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm where matters require specialist input.
• Undertake other ad hoc responsibilities as required by the team.

About You

You will ideally have:

• 2-5 years' post-qualification experience in corporate tax.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• The ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines effectively.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Confidence communicating with clients and participating in client meetings.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
• A commercially pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
• Strong IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office.
• The ability to remain calm and effective when working under pressure.
• A willingness to embrace change and contribute positively to the development of the team and wider firm.
