Job Description
The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of the Channels & Payments processing application portfolio, which include:
- Defining the application technology transition roadmap to support the business strategies and ongoing volume growth
- Delivering all IT solutions and enhancements.
- Ensuring highly available and scalable system capabilities to accommodate business growth
- Managing risk and security aspects of the application portfolio
- Work with a team of Subject Matter Experts, Business Analysts, Architects and Software Developers to deliver projects and change requests. Provide solutions, cost estimates, functional and design specifications
- Manage business stakeholder's expectation and establish best or alternative solutions that are feasible within the technology and timeline constraints
- Review solution design and effort estimates from the team and prioritize projects and change requests assigned to the team
- Drive consistency in solution design and delivery across applications and development teams
- Manage delivery of initiatives - projects and change request. Responsible for planning, manage vendor and in-house development, solutioning, implementing and maintaining software applications systems.
- Drive adoption of methods (E.g. Agile) and industry practices to improve quality and productivity outcomes
- Select, train, develop and manage technical team members in a conducive team environment
- Lead multi-vendor teams to successfully deliver solutions, manage multi-vendor teams to work amicably to support the bank's commitments
- Work with Test Manager to formulate comprehensive system test plan aligned with project scope/Change request, quality requirements and targets
- Anticipate and resolve any development issues or risks either independently or together with the relevant stakeholders and propose alternative solutions as necessary
- Resolve issues ensuring escalation and communication to stakeholders as necessary
- Lead or contribute to cross-team improvement initiatives relating to methods, tools, people, architecture, project management and governance
- Strong IT delivery experience implementing large-scale, highly-available applications, preferably in payment processing, entitlements, and orchestration solutions.
- At least 10-15 years of experience in application development and maintenance, with full SDLC exposure, including hands-on systems development, coding, writing functional / technical specifications, and testing.
- Solid foundation in service-oriented technologies, capable of understanding service interdependencies and driving technical solutions for multi-tiered systems.
- Hands-on experience in Core Java and integrating open source libraries.
- More than 10 years of experience in designing, developing, and implementing applications using microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and container technologies.
- Strong application performance tuning skills, including optimizing garbage collection, JBoss EAP setup, and MQ configuration for peak performance.
- Good understanding of various software development methodologies and experience transitioning from Waterfall to Agile.
- Exposure to technologies including Java, Oracle, WebLogic/JBoss, Unix, OCP Platfiorms and MQ/ConnectDirect messaging.
- More than 5 years of experience:
- Managing third-party vendor relationships and offshore development teams to achieve business outcomes.
- Operating at a manager level (or above) delivering global IT capabilities for a multinational company with budget responsibilities.
- Proven results-oriented individual with strong delivery focus.
- Experience implementing and integrating third-party solutions is preferred.
- Domain knowledge in Transaction Banking, Cash Management, and Payments is required.
- Strong understanding of payment rails and clearing systems, including:
- RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement)
- MEPS+
- Telegraphic Transfers (TT)
- Cross-border payments (e.g., SWIFT, correspondent banking)
- Knowledge of payment message formats and standards, including:
- ISO 20022 (pain/pacs/camt)
- SWIFT MT series
- Ability to understand end-to-end payment flows, settlements, exceptions, and integration touchpoints across upstream and downstream systems.
- Experience with compliance and regulatory requirements related to payments (sanctions, AML screening, purpose codes, reporting) is advantageous.
- Strong team player able to rally multiple teams toward a common objective.
