A leading European insurance company is seeking a Finance Manager to join its Tokyo office. This is an exceptional opportunity for finance professionals looking to take the next step toward a future CFO career path, gaining broad exposure across accounting, financial control, treasury, governance, and business operations.

Reporting directly to the Japan CFO and collaborating closely with regional teams, you will play a key role in strengthening financial processes, supporting strategic initiatives, and driving financial governance within a highly international environment. This position offers valuable front-to-back exposure to finance operations and long-term leadership development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support general ledger management, account reconciliations, and financial reporting activities.
  • Collaborate with regional finance teams to ensure accurate and timely financial operations.
  • Assist in treasury-related activities including cash management and banking relationship management.
  • Strengthen financial governance, compliance frameworks, and internal control processes.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiency across finance functions.
  • Contribute to finance transformation and strategic projects while partnering with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with local accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies.
Required Skills and Qualifications Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, finance operations, or financial control.
  • Strong knowledge of J-GAAP and IFRS reporting standards.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, financial governance, and reporting processes.
  • Experience working within multinational organizations or international finance environments is highly advantageous.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Soft Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across regional and international teams.
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and take on broader responsibilities.
Language Requirements:
  • Japanese: Fluent.
  • English: Fluent.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Professional accounting qualification such as US CPA, CPA, ACCA, or equivalent.
  • Experience in insurance accounting, financial services, or regulated industries.
  • Exposure to treasury operations, banking relationships, or financial governance initiatives.
  • Interest in progressing toward Finance Director or CFO-level responsibilities.
