About the Role
A top-tier international bank in Hong Kong is looking for a Lead AI Architect who sits comfortably right at the intersection of technology and business strategy.
This isn't an isolated engineering role or a purely advisory position. It’s a true 50/50 hybrid role : half of your time will be spent rolling up your sleeves to map out AI tech architecture and MLOps frameworks, while the other half will focus on working directly with business stakeholders in Wealth Management and Insurance to turn commercial challenges into high-value AI solutions.
If you enjoy translating complex AI possibilities into real banking products and leading tech teams to build them out, this is a great step.
Key Responsibilities
- Bridge Tech & Business (50/50 Split): Act as the main translator between business leaders across Wealth Management & Insurance and technical delivery teams, turning commercial goals into clear AI technology roadmaps.
- AI Strategy & Architecture: Design secure, scalable AI and Generative AI frameworks that integrate smoothly into core banking platforms and existing microservices.
- Business Use Case Commercialization: Work hand-in-hand with business partners to identify high-impact opportunities for AI—from automating front-office client journeys to optimizing middle-office workflows across wealth advisory and insurance operations.
- Hands-on Prototyping & Tech Selection: Lead proof-of-concept (PoC) builds, test new open-source models, and evaluate third-party tech vendors to see what actually works in a production environment.
- Governance & Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all AI models meet strict banking data security, privacy, and regulatory standards (like HKMA guidelines) without slowing down innovation.
- Delivery Oversight: Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to guide projects from initial concept through to live deployment.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Balanced Background: Proven experience in a dual technical-business role (e.g., AI Architect, Tech Lead, or Technical Product Manager) within financial services, wealth management, insurance, or enterprise tech.
- Strong Technical Grounding: Solid understanding of modern AI/ML stacks, LLM frameworks, cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure), and core software engineering concepts.
- Business Acumen: Ability to speak fluent business language, shape ROI-focused cases for AI projects, and manage senior stakeholder expectations effectively.
- Delivery Track Record: Hands-on experience getting AI/ML or digital platforms out of the lab and into live production.
