Our client is a well established HK based hedge fund looking for a dynamic, resourceful research analyst to spearhead the firms A-share research function. This person will be advising fund managers on China related matters.
Being part of the research team to produce researches on Chinese A-shares, and support portfolio managers on the following tasks, based out of Hong Kong:
- analysing financial information relating to specific companies in China A-shares, e.g. company results, profit and loss and cash flow statements;
- regular communication with the management of the companies and their investor relations team;
- keeping up to date with market developments, new investment products and all other areas that can affect the markets;
- considering how the economic implications of news and factors that might affect the performance of the companies;
- making informed recommendations to fund managers, including updating fund managers on investment ideas and summaries of research;
- writing research reports and investment ideas to be sent to clients;
- ensuring that they meet the numerous compliance regulations;
- making presentations and recommendations to clients in relation to the funds managed by the fund managers;
- maintaining regular communication with clients by telephone, email and in person.
Requirements
- Ideally 5+ years of experience on the buy-side covering China markets, as a generalist
- Proven ability to pick stocks which outperform peers
- Technical knowledge of analysing financial information including company results, profit and loss, and cash flow statements
- Effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills with a competence in presenting in a professional and influential manner
- Ability to present clear and succinct analyses to all levels of management
- Capacity to work under demands for time and resources and successfully meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Strong collaboration skills and effective in a team environment; proven ability to effectively transfer knowledge to build team competence
- Highly responsive and committed to results with a strong customer orientation
- Demonstrates ability to coordinate financial data across organization boundaries and geographies
