Job Description
The team

CDPQ develops and implements industry best practices to integrate data science into its investment processes. Knowledge generated by the quality, quantity and velocity of the information processed is critical to ensuring informed decision-making.

The Quantitative Strategies and Data Science (QSDS) team develops and manages quantitative and systematic investment strategies, integrates data science into the investment process and provides all specialized portfolios (SP) with analytical support, particular in the post-investment phase. The team's activities are divided into three areas:

• Systematic Fundamental Management (quantitative investment)
  
• Data Science and Engineering (integration and use of data in investing)
  
• Analytics (pre- and post-investment analyses to support all SPs)
  

Opportunity

We are seeking a candidate who will report to the Senior Director, Market Data Management. The purpose of this position is to contribute to proactive, horizontal data management with a view to maximizing the value of this information asset. You will be involved in various projects and deal with all CDPQ business units. You will have the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of the financial data underpinning the investment profession and position yourself successfully in the data science field.

Responsibilities

Your contribution will be in three main areas: structuring, connecting and advising.

Systematically manage data by playing a foundational structuring role for data sources, projects, applications and stakeholders.

• Identify, organize and document available data sources to make these information resources easier to use.
  
• Provide visibility into ongoing data-related work (monitoring, analysis, integration, transformation, etc.) by maintaining documentation in the form of executive summaries (synopses, data sheets, etc.).
  
• Plan logistics for recurring meetings and help with scheduling.
  

Implement data knowledge management through the creation of a knowledge base. in order to facilitate data use and the integration of data science into investment processes.

• Foster synergy among stakeholders by acting as a pivot point between data managers and users across the organization.
  
• Develop and support a community of data experts to promote knowledge sharing.
  
• Coordinate knowledge creation and sharing on the corporate knowledge management platform (Bloomfire).
  
• Curate content provided by knowledge base contributors to ensure information is valid and relevant.
  

Contribute to specific data projects in collaboration with stakeholders from the QSDS teams and CDPQ business units.

• Analyze business unit data needs and requirements.
  
• Conduct analyses to assess and compare sources and their qualities.
  
• Research and monitor commercially available data products.
  
• Provide advice on the options available to meet business needs.
  

Profile sought

• Bachelor's or master's degree in finance, economics or a related field;
  
• Five years' experience in a financial environment;
  
• Ability to work with and explore databases (SQL, Python, R, etc.);
  
• Experience with financial data sources (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv, S&P, MSCI) a major asset;
  
• Experience with a knowledge management platform (e.g., Bloomfire) an asset;
  
• Professional designation (CFA, FRM, PRM, etc.) an asset;
  
• Fluency in French and good knowledge of spoken and written English.
