What You'll Do:

Join a dynamic Development Platform team focused on making software engineering faster, simpler, and more effective. You’ll build and evolve the tools, infrastructure, and processes that enable hundreds of developers to deliver high-quality software efficiently.

From improving a single development workflow to leading large-scale build system transformations, you’ll tackle challenges across the technology stack and have a tangible impact on engineering productivity.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Identify and implement improvements across software development workflows, from incremental optimisations to major architectural changes.
2. Build and scale development tooling and build infrastructure to support growing engineering teams.
3. Optimise compile times and improve developer feedback cycles.
4. Enhance code quality, maintainability, and engineering best practices.
5. Design and develop infrastructure for development, build, testing, and release processes.
6. Troubleshoot build infrastructure issues and implement reliable, long-term solutions.
7. Work with technologies including Python, C++, Java, Bazel, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD platforms.
8. Partner closely with development and engineering teams to understand their evolving needs.
9. Encourage adoption of effective development practices that improve productivity and software quality.
10. Help modernise and simplify complex development environments across a global engineering organisation.

About You:

You’re an experienced software developer who enjoys solving complex engineering problems and improving the way other developers work. You combine strong technical ability with excellent communication skills and can confidently collaborate with stakeholders across the software development lifecycle.

You’ll ideally bring:

1. 3+ years of professional software development experience using Python, Java, and/or C++.
2. Experience with Bazel or another monorepo-oriented build system.
3. Strong understanding of reliable build environments and rapid developer feedback cycles.
4. Experience designing or implementing CI/CD pipelines using technologies such as Jenkins, TeamCity, or GoCD.
5. Familiarity with containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
6. An interest in developer productivity, build systems, automation, and engineering infrastructure.
7. Strong problem-solving abilities and a pragmatic approach to technical challenges.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
