The Chief Controls Office (CCO) provides strong risk and regulatory oversight across Business Banking, embedding consistent governance, enterprise frameworks and centres of excellence to deliver simpler, stronger and more effective risk outcomes.
As Chapter Lead Customer Channels and Data (CCD) - Non-Financial Risk, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a proactive risk and control culture while enabling CCD to deliver innovative, technology-led outcomes safely and within risk appetite. This role sits at the intersection of technology, data, AI, customer channels and operational delivery.
What your role will involve
Reporting to the Chief Controls Officer, Business Banking, you are a senior Line 1 risk leader and trusted partner to the CCD leadership team. You are accountable for end-to-end non-financial risk management across customer and banker channels, data and analytics, AI and models, technology platforms, and supplier environments.
You will lead and develop a high-performing risk team and work closely with senior stakeholders across Business Banking, Line 2 Risk, Model Risk & Validation, and Group Audit to ensure strong risk discipline is embedded across CCD's operating model and change agenda.
Success in this role means enabling confident, risk-informed decision making, uplifting risk capability, and balancing innovation with robust governance, ethical AI practices and effective controls.

On any given day, you will
- Lead, coach and inspire a team of non-financial risk professionals, promoting a strong risk and control culture across CCD
- Act as a trusted risk partner to CCD leaders, providing pragmatic advice across technology, data, AI, advanced analytics, operational and supplier risk
- Drive the identification, assessment and management of key and emerging risks, including technology risk, data governance, AI/model risk, cyber risks in AI-enabled environments, and third-party risk
- Oversee high-quality risk assessments, control design, testing and automation, ensuring alignment with enterprise frameworks and regulatory expectations
- Lead the end-to-end development and oversight of data, analytics and model solutions, including design, build, validation, deployment and monitoring, ensuring complex data is translated into clear, actionable business insights, and define and oversee AI/ML risk taxonomy (including bias, fairness, explainability, drift and misuse)
- Drive control automation to enhance efficiency, consistency and scalability and partner with Model Risk to define fit-for-purpose validation approaches
- Lead risk and change management practices, embedding CMRS and ensuring risks are effectively managed through complex initiatives and the software delivery lifecycle (SDLC)
- Provide insightful and actionable risk reporting to senior leaders, forums and committees to drive transparency and accountability
- Partner with stakeholders on incidents, issues, near misses and emerging risks, supporting timely and effective responses
- Support the execution of the Business Banking risk strategy and uplift risk capability across CCD crews and chapters
- Work collaboratively across the Group to ensure consistency, alignment and continuous improvement in risk practices
- Partner with Model Risk & Validation to define fit-for-purpose model and AI validation approaches
- Enable the responsible adoption of AI, GenAI and advanced analytics, ensuring strong governance, ethical use, and clear human accountability for AI-assisted decisions
We're interested in hearing from people who have
- Extensive experience in end-to-end non-financial risk management within complex, technology-enabled environments
- Deep expertise across technology risk, data governance, AI and advanced analytics risk, model risk, operational risk and third-party/supplier risk, including SaaS, cloud and AI vendors
- Strong understanding of data, analytics and model governance across the full lifecycle, including responsible and ethical AI practices, bias, fairness, explainability and model monitoring
- Experience embedding human-in-the-loop controls, GenAI/LLM governance (e.g. prompt risk, hallucination risk, data leakage) and scalable AI control frameworks
- Proven experience applying risk and change frameworks across large, complex initiatives (including CMRS and SDLC)
- Demonstrated ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders to support risk-informed decision making
- Strong people leadership capability, including coaching, mentoring and developing high-performing teams
- A growth mindset, sound judgement and the confidence to challenge constructively in fast-moving, innovative environments
