BGC Partners are looking for an experienced Client Due Diligence Supervisor to join the established Department.

Main purpose of the role:

To support the growth of the business by:

  • Organising and controlling CDD (Client Due Diligence) and EDD (Enhanced Due Diligence) on new counterparties. Ensuring the process is performed accurately, timely and in line with company policy.

  • Ensuring CDD information held on existing counterparties is refreshed on a risk-based basis ensuring it remains up to date and accurate

  • Engaging in project work as required to support process improvement and regulatory changes 

  • Understanding the various businesses under the BGC portfolio of brands and managing internal client expectations


Key responsibilities:

Core Activities

  • Manage the inflow of new requests and ensure priorities are met

  • When called upon, assist with performing CDD on new and existing counterparties and enhanced due diligence where applicable.

  • When called upon, assist with sanction and PEP screening on new and existing clients to determine if there are any PEPs/Sanction/AML risks

  • Support CDD staff and ensure training requirements are identified and met 

  • Liaising with the Front Office business heads, developing a good working relationship and managing expectations.

  • Periodically review CDD information held on existing clients to identify shortfalls and obtain missing documentation

  • Be alert to conduct and reputational risk issues, specifically the risk of harm to client interests, market integrity and/or competition in financial markets due to inappropriate practices or behaviours across the firm

  • Attend management meetings and committees as required


Other

  • Act as subject matter expert in all CDD issues

  • Take on roles and responsibilities as required by the CDD Manager to ensure the successful operation of the CDD Team 


Key contacts/working relationships

  • Work closely with colleagues across BGC Compliance and where necessary liaise with the BGC MLRO & Deputy MLRO

  • Work closely and in a timely manner with the Front Office to obtain information required to complete the CDD process


Key outputs and key performance indicators

  • Accurate and timely approval of new accounts

  • Accurate and timely categorisation of clients in accordance with MiFID/DFSA categorisation requirements

  • Appropriate and timely escalation of concerns

  • Accurate record keeping 

  • Minimal “quality assurance” failure rate

  • Share information as appropriate with other members of the CDD Team and the wider group

  • Positive contribution to the CDD Team


Skills / competencies required:

  • Several years’ experience of working in a CDD role within Financial Services

  • Previous experience of working directly with the Front Office

  • Good working knowledge of UK anti money laundering requirements including the JMLSG Guidance Notes, the Money Laundering Regulations, the Proceeds of Crime Act, the Terrorism Act and relevant sanctions screening requirements and processes

  • Good knowledge of global MiFID/DFSA client categorisation requirements including MiFID II/DFSA

  • Experience of CDD requirements for a wide range of customers including private companies, government entities, unregulated funds, off shore jurisdictions and introducing brokers
